2010 Minnesota Skinnyski Series Ready to Go |
|
This weekend marks the beginning of the 2010 season for the Minnesota Skinnyski Series (MiSSeries) with the newly revived Twin Cities Championships! Both Battle Creek and Theodore Wirth are ready to go and host the opening of the fifth season in MiSSeries history.
The Twin Cities Championships begin on January 2nd with a mass-start 10k classic race at Battle Creek Park in St. Paul, with the 15k pursuit freestyle race being held Sunday at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis. To count towards the overall MiSSeries standings, racers must compete in both events. Early registration ends Thursday night and day-of registration ends Friday at Finn Sisu. It’s going to be cold, so bundle up and get ready for another great year of racing. There is no additional cost to participate in the MiSSeries. Skiers can participate in several ways: - Overall Competition: Male and female skiers of all ages compete for the grand prize trips to ski in Iceland’s Fossavatn Ski Marathon. Overall winners are determined based upon an age-indexed system. Overall male and female winners are determined by taking the five best races for each skier, with bonuses awarded for completing a sixth and seventh Series event.
- Age Group Competition: Winners are determined by taking the best five races for each skier, with bonuses awarded for completing a sixth and seventh Series event. Skiers placing in their age classes are recognized on the MiSSeries wooden trophy skis.
- Team Competition: Teams are comprised of up to twelve skiers – with the top three male and top three female age class scorers counting for each team at each race.
- Skier of the Year: Designed to reward the skier who shows the most dedication to the sport – through personal improvement and perseverance. The Skier of the Year receives free entry into all six Series events the year following their victory.
- 191K Club: Any skier who participates in all seven MiSSeries events in a single year (thus completing 191 kilometers of racing).
Following the Twin Cities Championships, the MiSSeries will be taking a week off before returning on January 17th with the Boulder Lake Ski Race 31k freestyle event. Follow the Minnesota Skinnyski Series on both Twitter and Facebook! www.twitter.com/MiSSeries www.facebook.com/MiSSeries |
